Radeon HD 4870 1 GB In For Yet Another Price Cut
As the price-war between the two graphics processor giants intensifies, ATI is reportedly preparing yet another price-cut for the Radeon HD 4870 1 GB graphics accelerator. The company had implemented significant reductions in prices of HD 4800 series accelerators as recently as in the first week of March.

The older price-cut placed the HD 4870 1 GB at the US $199 price point. Following NVIDIA's move to push the GeForce GTX 260 to that price-point, ATI's response is indicated to be a further $20 cut, sending the price down to $179. There is no word on when the new pricing would be implemented.

Sweet, although itll probably will take awhile.

In the end it's the consumer who wins.
hmm, my planned 4830 xfire could turn into 4850's if I don't hurry up

Oh hey, it looks like Newegg finally implemented the first price cut.

Now all we have to do is wait for the next price cut to be announced before they start selling at $180...

And there is still nothing for us Canadians.

A 4870 1GB is still $40 USD more on Newegg.ca.
ok that's it, i'm happy i got a job because at these prices, i have to get mine a brother, along with a new mobo and CPU.
Sweet. My 4870 1gb still has 3 weeks left on it's newegg open box refund warranty.
Goes to show the level of profit on these things. Less than 50% of original debut MSRP and still dropping!

and of course i'm getting an xfire capable board. just wait for my rig upgrade this summer and hopefully they'll be priced at around $80 or less lol

I told myself no spending on GPUs. But it's getting so hard. I only wish AMD would push the Phenom 2 line to get cheaper for me.
My mistake, I misinterpreted the article I posted. I will likely be getting one of these cards myself though.
