Silverstone is a well-established brand in the PC-enthusiast space, having garnered a huge following with their many products in various market segments. With chassis, coolers, fans, and more, they have something for everyone. Not just the products have made Silverstone what it is today. The company's policy of outstanding design, perfect quality, and customer satisfaction has also really helped ingrain it into the minds of PC enthusiasts.

The products responsible for making Silverstone stand out over time do come out of their chassis line-up. The Temjin- and Sugo series have been enthusiast favorites for years, being of superb quality and offering unique designs that set them apart from the competition. Silverstone has also been a force in the cooling market for quite some time, and let's not forget the top notch power supplies they offers with their Strider series of units. Still, it is the company's chassis line-up that has kept the enthusiast's favor, and with unique designs like the RAVEN series, it's no wonder why.

Moving on, I will be reviewing the Silverstone Heligon HE01. The heatsink is of a more traditional design, making use of multiple heatpipes and two fin stacks; however, the use of a 140 mm x 38 mm fan is certainly a departure from the norm. I have to say that I have mixed feelings as to the design of the cooler itself, but looks and specifications can be very misleading. With that said, it's time to see just what this Silverstone cooler can do.

The Heligon HE01 again proved to be an able performer under extreme loads, taking third place in the stock chart and second in the overclocked chart. With this showing, the Silverstone Heligon HE01 is currently the best performing air cooler I have tested when set to performance mode. Quiet mode leaves something to be desired: It is quiet, but performance suffers to the point of other options, like the GELID Black Edition, being just as quiet while cooling the same despite being smaller. That said, the Heligon HE01 does leave more room should someone need it.

DO WANT THAT 140MMx38mm fan! 171 CFM!

At first I thought that was from a Silverstone press release, but that's actually part of the TechPowerUp review. Wow.

Anyway, the Heligon does seem like an interesting design.

Didn't this rank really poorly against other coolers? I'm not sure which review sites for cooling are reputable.

About the same as the other high-end air coolers. Most reviews I've seen give a slight edge to the Phanteks, which makes sense considering that it has two fans and two full sets of cooling fins, while the Heligon HE01 has one fan, albeit a powerful one, and one and a half sets of fins. It's a very strong contender because the design doesn't interfere with RAM slots.

I bought the Heligon when it was on sale last week. Upgrading from a Hyper 212 Plus with two fans, was able to push my best overclock on a FX-8350 from 4.3 GHz to 4.8, even though the airflow in my case is pretty bad.

I currently have this cooler and I've also owned the Phanteks and Noctua. They all perform identically. If I had to rank them it'd be the Phanteks, SilverStone, and then the Noctua but the performance of all these coolers are very close. The advantage the Heligon has over the other two is ram clearance. My sticks are over 50mm. No way in hell would they fit under the Noctua or Phanteks.

I am curious if anyone has tested it with push-pull (or push-/push-pull/-pull?) fans, and what the performance increase is?

Great to see this cooler perform so admirably. I love the FHP-141 fans and have them as intakes in my case. I wouldn't say they are great for rads though. They are 140mm fans with 120mm mounting holes. I don't know of any rads set up to accommodate that. I had to drill holes in the divider on my 800D to make them fit.

Totally satisfied though as these fans seem to move a lot of air at a low db.
