TUL Corporation who are best known for their VGA card brand Powercolor, have started a new company called "VTX". Like Powercolor it will sell ATI based graphics cards, but initially focuses on markets like Russia and Turkey. The cards will be priced extremely competitive and based on custom PCB designs which will help reduce the cost.

Woot. Another reference board maker with absolutely nothing special about them. Go industry!

And yes, I do realise it's actually ATI's fault for not letting AIB partners make custom boards and such.

if the internet has taught me anything, its that reading carefully, searching before posting, and being respectful are for losers.

I wonder how much cheaper they will sell their cards for, and at what cost to quality will it be at.

The whole Gainward/Palit debacle (which I believe is what you're referring to) turned out to be not that ATi wouldn't let them make custom boards, but their custom designs did not pass ATi safety checks so ATi wouldn't let Gainward/Palit sell them.

EDIT: Sorry if i seem rude, I don't intend to be.

Russia and Turkey doesn't have as large as an economy than the US and less money made annually per person.

They are making cheaper PCB's to lower the cost of their video cards there. That way, they can generate more profit.

Ahhh! That was what I was referring to and I didn't realise that was the reason. Hmm. Then how come nVidia always seems to have the more interesting AIB partners?

As for not reading the article. It's true. I didn't. I'm so used to bland ATI partners that I assumed it's be another pointless entrant into the market. Oh well. Even though I was wrong, I'll stand by my assumption that they will be just as uninteresting as every other ATI partner.

They don't have to stand out.

Like stated before, they're aimed at a completely different market.

No they just figure if they make cheap cards to those countries everyone will be like "YAY!!!!" and buy them, and then truckloads of cash will come in.

are you for real? Nvidia simply lets their partners right off the bat release oced cards. (EVGA SC, SCC KO etc.) But those are nothing but factory oced reference cards. Recently we saw ATI's partners do the same with the 4890's. But in the long run, its the non-reference cards from ATI's partners ex. Sapphire's line of Toxic and Vapor X cards and HIS line of ICEQ cards that i find interesting.
