What it basically means is that EasyAntiCheat installs a driver in kernel mode and a service that monitors your system (when Watch Dogs 2 is running). This mechanism is also running even when you're in single-player-only - and even offline - modes, meaning that you're not getting out of its crosshairs no matter how you are playing the game. The addition of file-integrity checks at the start of the game, so as to detect any changes to the games' files also precludes modding, with some injection-type modding also finding troubles in being able to access the game, due to it checking game memory and system memory as well. Popular applications such as Afterburner and OBS have their overlay and recording capabilities disabled (...)

3. EasyAntiCheat will take screenshots of your game screen and upload them on public servers, viewable to everyone, if the server provider wishes so. The author of this software and EasyAntiCheat takes no responsibility of screenshots captured outside the game screen. If any personal or harmful information is captured into a screenshot, the user is fully responsible of the happened incident and any consequences it may result in. (In case this happens to you, please inform your server provider to remove unwanted screenshots from the server.)
Source.

Is this game perhaps a little too realistic in its theme?

The part you quoted is absolutely ludicrous.

'Our software randomly takes screenshots at its own discretion, uploads them to public servers, you can't do anything about it and if there are damages resulting from it, you are fully responsible for them'

I rarely play multiplayer anymore, and I could see an anti-cheat mechanism being used for that purpose only, but in single player too..WTH?

..funny thing is I received the game as a present from my brother for my bday, but now I'm wondering if it'll end up in the never installed games abyss in my steam library......forever

Not sure what harm a screen shot of a game could cause ?

Seems like they are trying to stop cheating at least. I'd take no mods but no cheats in games

wow...

I got this game for free with one of my amazon purchases...I'm not sure it's worth it. Does anyone know if this system can be extra judicially disabled...I couldn't care less if I'm banned from multipler servers.

I am beginning to wonder if there's some sort of sexual fetish or mental illness that some people have involving voyeurism and spying on other people, and these people choose jobs where they can invade others privacy as a form of psychological warfare.

I think the issue here is that it has the potential to screenshot something outside the game (desktop, icons, task bar, other open windows, instant message conversations, etc.) and uploads those without you even knowing they got uploaded to some public server...

I actually sent in android google messenger feedback to bring back timestamps in messenger, quickly and noticed that a screenshot of my messenger home screen was sent! Briefly of all my texts but not fully. Even though there was a check box to untick. By default the check box imho should have been unticked.

Pissed me off. Luckily I wasn't asking dealer for something with name displayed! pff.

It's getting hard to obtain basic privacy these days...even tho most of the people hand it over themselves anyway

I'm sorry, what?

Your anti-cheat software takes a screenshot of my personal information and uploads it without my consent or knowledge to a public server, and that's somehow not your responsibility because of this silly little agreement?

I can't even begin to count the number of laws that could be violated by this. HIPAA is the first that comes to mind, distributing my personal medical information without my consent is explicitly illegal under federal law, and there are very strict rules for disclosure, to say nothing of the financial and other sensitive information that could be captured.

This is grounds for some major boycotts, in my opinion, if not more significant legal action.

NOt only are they not responsible but it's actually YOUR fault...according to their ToS.

ToS vs HIPAA

That'll be a short fight.

Is this why a gtx 1080 can barely run this game @ 60fps/1080p? Oh Ubi, just when we think you got into our good graces, then you do this.

Well that is pretty disappointing really and another reason not to buy the game

So if I understand this, if Watch Dogs is running, and I alt-tab out to do something else, like send an e-mail for work, buy some crap on amazon for x-mas, maybe even do some "research" on a select group of female "actresses" those are all fair game to be screen shotted and uploaded to their servers, is that correct?

It's one thing for MS, Google, etc. etc. to keep tabs on my personal data, because they don't just release it to the public (paying customers only). This seems to just throw it out there for anyone to see.
