I loved my 470 even on stock cooling it was great.

Gotta love Nvidia fanboys.

Doesn't seem like OP got any problems with his 5870. I'd say you should keep it, 470 will consume more power and create more heat.

He said "alleged" which far from typical fanboy speak

You seem pretty partial yourself, screaming fanboy a lot these past few days.

I cant speak for the 5870 as I never owned one, but werent they a step up from the 470? I enjoyed mine until I traded it for the 480, if anything I would trade up to 480 if you find that opportunity. That why your making yourself a little upgrade on your way to the "green" side

All the pwnage you've received over the past couple days has really loosened a few screws I see. This ATI cheer leading nonsense is getting way out of hand.

OP, get that 470 and enjoy it.

Not sure what you're on about tbh, as I haven't recieved any so called "pwnage". You're obviously bitter for some reason. Oh well, can't really blame me if AMD offers better cards. Each to their own I guess.

5870 is faster, keep it.

I'll throw my hat into the ring here...

I had a Sapphire 5870. Immensely good clocker (1050+ mhz). Nice and cool. Looked phenomenal.

Sadly, I bought into all the OCN propaganda when the new Forcewares came out that supposedly brought the 470 to 5870 level. I sold the 5870 and bought an MSI GTX 470 just to see for myself.

This 470 clocked fairly well... up to 875mhz... but it just did *NOT* perform up to the same level of the 5870 I had just gotten rid of. It was very very close, but didn't surpass it in any way, shape, or form.

To this day, I wish I had never sold that card.

According to a personnel review I did a while ago 5870CF vs 470SLI they were pretty much on par maybe the 470 had a slight advantage in performance, but the 5870 definitely won in heat/power. It would be better if you use games that take advantage of PhysX and video encoding will be a bit faster. Last but not least driver preference AMD or Nvidia? I'm far from bias but I've had a better experience with nvidia's driver set, but like AMD's video scaling options better when using a TV as monitor also clearer image IMO.
