Agreed.

But Tri 280's or 285's outperforms dual 295's.

Honestly, None.
Single GTX285 will be plenty for 22"inch monitor.

3x GTX285 will be faster than 2x GTX295 by the way.

Not sure. that's a pretty tough choice and I'm not sure what will scale/perform better at that res. If you find any reviews comparing those 2 set-ups, please post it.

Looks like it's going to depnd on what you play, and even then it's only a few FPS difference. X58 also enables you to use CF as well on some boards.

Meh, usually in these situations its best to go with the less amount of faster cards. 1 GTX295 would be plenty for any game at 1980x1200, heck, one 285 would probably be enough too. So why not save yourself the trouble of having to power, accomodate (with a new mobo, or whatever) and eventually sell three 285s when you can just have 2 295s?

You need the 285GTX because of there 1gb memory, when gaming at 30" you need all the VRAM you can get as frame buffer size at those kinds of resolutions gets massive.

2 gtx285's would be plenty powerful.

I'm really confused by these benchmarks. I've seen ones where the 3x285s have been able to get 42 FPS average @2560xWhatever (max reso)
