I want to try server 2003. So I can get to know it. Installing active directories and such. At the moment I only have my router with two PCs.

The pc I want to put the server on is quite low spec 1.6athlon, 256ram etc. Will I be able to setup certain things without it being so slow. I want to be able to log onto a domain.

Thanks for help

Yeah... I got the OS trial and it was ok. Haven't found any compatibility issues or anything of the sort. The best thing is, you can use these evaluations over and over.

I suggest upgrading the RAM if you want to install active directory services on it otherwise booting it up and running it will slow right down

More RAM would speed things up a bit, but i've used it on a 800MHz intel with only 128mb RAM doing simillar things, and mostly it worked alright.

The system optimizations in Server 2K3 are amazing compared to XP, I currently use it as my primary OS over XP. Its amazingly stable and the software memory controller is second only some UNIX based systems. You should be fine with those specs to just play around with it but don't expect to be running a lot of services.
