It seems as though rumors are floating around causing speculation as to whether AMD's latest offering, the heartily priced FX -9590, will be the last FX CPU AMD Produces.

No
Different naming scheme. They are doing the same thing with their GPUs.

Nope. Oh, last FX CPU? Maybe.

With desktop "enthusiast" cpu's? Possibly, they are moving in that direction, they could be gearing up to get out of that line and focus on apu's. I doubt anyone would miss them in the enthusiast market.

Use the original heading of the article in your title - AMD FX-9590 Kiss of Death? Last FX CPU From AMD?

Just because they are no longer making FX CPU's doesn't mean they are pulling out of the performance CPU market. Rumours recently have been hinting that they may go back to Phenom, it's all very speculatory though.

try to formate your thread in better and add the source to your title. Also remeber you can make source as Link
That and the formating is all wrong, the OP probably didn't fully read the article or didn't understand it.

Please use the proper prefix in the title, aswell as the quoted articles title. Else things tend to turn into a flamewar

Edit: Ninja'd

I don't think that Piledriver will be the last we see from the FX line. It makes no sense to me to abandon their performance-platform completely. Imo. the 9***-series were a pr-stunt just to brag about how they were the first to 5ghz. I do believe we will see Steamroller FX sometime in the future after Kaveri and whatnot, but it will probably be very late. But hey, better late than never, right?

If AMD went back to phenom and made a phenom III with 8+ full cores with a clock speed of 3.5+ for 400 bucks, that would be PERFECT.

@ AMD: Hint hint wink wink.
Phenlonsemteron will be the next series.
Sorry guys about the wrong formatting. I am very sorry....

The Phenom architecture hit its wall. They had 32nm cores and they were not better than their 45nm counterparts. With that no, I personally would not like to see them do something like put old cores on a new fab and just jam a few more in there.
This makes sense.

Intel barely makes any non-APU's either. Almost every cpu from AMD and Intel have iGPU's. That is just the way everything is heading.

Focusing on chips for the high end market (i.e. 3930k+) is pointless for AMD at this time as they cannot compete so they might as well use all their resources and focus on making their APU line-up much better.

If AMD made a quad core APU with greater than 2500k performance for $150 and it was unlocked that would be an awesome product.

hmm, not sure what the source is, I've looked but haven't found it.

It's a Cheryl Cole reaction .gif.

If we measure performance in flops, they've got plenty

I just hope GPU accelerations really kicks off, we don't really need all of this cpu-performance if we can offload heavy tasks to the much faster gpu.
