Hey hello

i was wondering

is it possible to have 2 psus running in the one computer?

if so how?

i currently got running a OCZ Stealth Extreme 600W and i wanna add my old computer's psu, Thermaltake 300w, so i use that to run the graphics cards of ,2x 8800GT and maybe most of the fans,

i got a Nzxt Tempest case

thanxx

It is very possible, but you won't be able to fit it into that case.
Yup, entirely possible. Either my motherboard or PSU came with a Y cable so Both PSU's feed the motherboard, then you have all the other power ports on both PSUs to power everything.

so how do i do it?

i'm just gonna leave the side of my case open and later probably drill a hole for the psu plug.
I think it would be impossible to fit it into the Tempest without serious modding.

You probably won't be able to fit it inside the case, but if you don't mind having one PSU outside the case, dual psu is very easily set up. Just connect the first PSU normally, then jump pin 14 and 15 on the secondary psu, it'll power on by flipping the switch at the back.

Or you can buy an adapter.

Also, give the second PSU some load (like an HDD) on the 5v rail, so the 12v rails will work correctly.

thank you... can i use any metal or do i have to get some specific metal?
I guarantee can run 2x8800GT and all the fans you want on that 600w.
To jump the pins? Use any metal, such as a paper clip, and i would also put some tape over it so it doesn't fall out.
OCZ StealthXStreme can run two 8800gt's on an E8400. I did it fine. You can but you'd need a new case. And two 24 pin -> 1 24 pin power cable.
thank you

anyway the only reason i'm doing this is because i'm hoping to a few good graphics cards in the future

this might save me some money
