...It has just been launched today, carving a place for itself in the Guinness World Records as apart from being the first MindWave headset that costs less than £100 ($99.95 Stateside), it was also demonstrated to be powerful enough to move a Volkswagen motor car - hence breaking a Guinness World Record for the "Largest Object Moved Using a Brain-Computer Interface."
It's only $100 bucks?!

Sweet Jebus, have mercy! I'm off to get one!

Things like this have been out for a while.

General consensus: still gimmicky.

I don't quite get their record. Can't anybody take a "brain-computer interface" and hook it up to a truck and drive it, as long as they know how?

It seems like you could take an OCZ NIA, hook it up to a computer which is set to drive something, and then you break the record.

I can just see interfaces like this taking over the internet. And instead of there being the buffer from your brain to your fingers back to your eyes, there will be no buffer at all. Just imagine what mindless garbage will flow onto the internet when all it takes is a THOUGHT to post in a forum. Holy cow. I'm going to lunch now.

True, like as in the OCZ NIA. Still, a great idea in theory. I'd love to see it perfected.

Yes, you could. Being that NIA has a few bugs (like having to ground yourself to the casing-don't know if it's still like that, but earlier versions were). I'd be a little paranoid about using either to control tons of wheeled death. I think it was safer letting Stevie Wonder drive a car imho.
