Hi guys. I've been out of the foruns for a couple of time due to work issues...
now, some months after the new i5/i7 is out, i guess u guys have already a good opinion about what worth more to get.

Does a AMD 955/965 still compete with intel? from what i am reading, the i5 is an epic faliure and dont have much future.

My biggest doubt is thatthe i7 seams to have a bright future, but on the other hand AMD's saves me 200 bucks...

i love fast computers and i have another doubt. i know i7 is better for encoding, but does that mean it is faster when we log in windows or game loadings?

does intel tri-channel makes it really faster against amd dual channel?

as an eg. i call football manager. its a game based on cpu's (i guess) so is an i7 tri-channel faster than a AMD on that game (with same gpu) ?

You'll notice from the review linked in the OP that when it comes to CPU's and gaming.

A Phenom II Clocked at 4.0ghz Does very well in most games.

To that I will say, if you are running a low res (IE: 1680x1050) the CPU will be more of a requirement.

But obviously you have a 1080p screen to play on, so the CPU won't matter really.

So, from what i see here, cpu dont really metters on games. i guess i made my decision then. ty for the FB

Not that it does not matter but very few games will be able to tell the difference between a i7 920 and a PII x4 965.

Perhaps eventually you will see a difference but then you can use some of that money you saved and buy yourself a new AMD 8 core bulldozer CPU!!!

i5 rocks. It costs a little bit more than a Phenom II based system though.

buy the intel chip, it supports hyperthreading, it like you have 8 cpu cores.
