Linked below is a database of modified BIOSes for X58 motherboards patched with the latest microcode (0x1F for Westmere, 0x1D for Bloomfield) against Meltdown and all variants of Spectre. Make sure the operating system is also updated to be fully protected from speculative execution side-channel vulnerabilities (CVE-2017-5715, CVE-2017-5753, CVE-2017-5754).

While most of Nehalem CPUs received a new microcode from Intel, there is an early stepping (C0) that hasn't and therefore still vulnerable at the moment. However, these very few CPUs will also benefit from increased security and stability due to more recent microcode. In addition, the ROMs feature TRIM support for SSDs in RAID0 and extended CPU compatibility table for all motherboards.

ENTERPRISE!! FIX THE DAMNED REP SYSTEM ALREADY.

<3 you Enterprise!

Great post though, I have an X58 Sabertooth that's about to be my FPGA mining rig.

Just tried flashing the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (Revision 2.0) image via Q-Flash.

I'm getting an "invalid BIOS file" error. Won't let me flash. Should I re-download? Flash via a different means?

Now it should work. Please re-download.
Same story as before. I also swapped my keyboard with another one (PS/2) and turned off multi-threading (2 things I read can affect BIOS flashing for some strange reason). Anyway, got the same error messages as before, in DOS as well as Q-Flash. No clue what's wrong.

EDIT: worked with Regeneration to test differently compiled versions of the same BIOS. Got one that worked! UD3R updated with microcode.

There is an FF3 version of this boards firmware that I've been using for seven years that never made it on to Gigabyte's public sites. Seems to work well...I'll see if I can find a link.

Just tried. Got the error message !! Bad BIOS Image !! and wouldn't flash.
Modded Gigabyte firmware of this era often need the engineer version of EFIFLASH to bypass incorrect checksums.

Added ROMs for even more vendors. So far, only Intel's mobos are missing from the list, their BIOS has too many checksum checks.

I've updated all ROMs today.

Nothing drastic... extended CPU support for the less known brands.

Updated microcode of 106A4 to a more recent one.

Now all X58 users can benefit from this release.
