Ok so in the next two hours I am pulling the trigger on a new gaming laptop right now the only two contenders are the Sager 9170 and Samsung Series 7 gamer http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834131390(or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834131391)

They are all the same specs overall:(here are differences)

Samsung $1250- 7870 GPU, blue ray
Samsung $1499- 675M, blue ray
Sager 9170 $1395 - 670MX

Must have:
17in or larger screen
1920x1080 resolution
i7 quad core
660M or high video card
8gb ram or more
Operating system
500gb 7200rpm drive or more
Backlit keyboard
Max Price of less than $1300 ideally(might be able to stretch to $1500).

i think the sager would be your best option then (considerind you've looked over all the options)
one of my friend called dell directly to order an alienware (2000$ one) and after some arguing he only paid 1400$.
but it's hard to go wrong with sager

The Sager is the best machine out of that bunch. The 670MX easily overclocks better and is already faster at stock, if not equal, while drawing less overall power.

The cooling on the Sager is considerably better too, temps only hit around 75-80*C for the GPU on bad days instead of 95*C for the 675M on the Samsung.

It's up to you, but the Sager will be your best bet. Upgrading a Samsung is almost impossible, but Sager makes this a rather easy thing to manage.

Ok so ordered the laptops:

On of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834312510&Tpk=y480 Got newegg to throw in a free 1 year warranty after a quick chat.

And

Sager 9170, Everything is stock, except, downgraded to 1333mhz ram, upgrade to 6300 wireless for dual band 3 antenna, added window home premuim 64bit.

I will update this when I get them. Also I spoke with Roland at xoticpc, super helpful, also he said he was browsing OCN before/during our conversations...so extra credit.

Nice purchase! I think you will be very happy with both systems. I bought my NP9170 from XoticPC as well and they have been just awsome to deal with. I have 2 issues with my Sager.

1. Missing a rubber foot on the bottom of the laptop.
2. One of the speakers is blown or has a bad wire.

On the first one I filled out the form ont he XoticPC website and within 24 hours they had Sager ship me a new rubber foot. I will be contacting them later today after I get home about the second one. I am going to check the wire first to see if that is the issue. I have already talked to them about it and again they promised to take care of the contact with Sager.

Looks like the Lenovo will be here on Friday, the Sager has gone into production, but the gpu is on back order until February 25. They said it will be 6-11 days for completion and then shipping. I am figuring two weeks or so.

What do you mean, what you're going to do with it?

It's in my sig. It's just that with new IB/Kepler hardware that came out, my 2012 NP9130 is bested by a 2013 NP9130 by about 20% in most benchies/games.

Order for the smaller laptop just got delayed, the UPS truck hit closed highway into Kansas City. We got 10 inches of snow in like 5 hours, so everything is shut down. Supposedly we will get another 2-6 more tonight. And people in Canada are like "what is it July down there?"

that's a bit insane, would dell really knock $600 of the sticker price after some haggling? if so I might actually consider getting one, alienware laptops really do have the best resale value.
how long did it take your friend to talk dell down on the price?

TBH I've heard this many times on NoteBookReview.com... Their Alienware section is littered with stories of people calling Dell and haggling the price well below the listed price.

I've actually done it myself. Just before I bought this laptop, I almost got a newer R3 for $1300. But this one was for $900 and within 10% of the performance in games.

Xoticpc was not having any kind of discount. I have called and got a small discount from dell before, as well as HP.
