Download some bench mark software.

Performance test 7, 3d mark 11, SiSoftware Sandra Lite 2012.SP1, Heaven DX11 Benchmark, maxxmem and super pi.

Run them with out the patch installed.
Save all the results.
Repeat with patch installed.

1) started downloading free versions
2) how would I un-install the hotfix patches?
3) what would the scores mean in those various benchmarks?

In the search files folders in the bottom of the start bar type in

Installed Updates

Press enter and it will show you all the updates you have installed. Then just right click and uninstall.
The names match up with the updates so, "KB2645594" & "KB2646060" are the bulldozer patches.

What your looking for is what scores higher with the update installed to see what difference they make.

The SiSoftware Sandra benchmarks are showing you how your cpu compares to the ones your selected, But thats not really important to you. You want to record the scores you get with and with out the patch so you know how it increases the performance.

If you run performance test 7 it tells you each test ran on the cpu such as interger (numbers), float (numbers with a . in them eg 134534.034), prime number and so on with the tests.
Also the easyest one to compare with since you can save your results as a base line then open in again in the future to compare with new results.

Hope that helps you understand a bit more. Just post up if you have any more questions.
