Only "bad" thing I can see is you will not have a drastic increase in FPS amongst Direct X 10 and 9 games. Possitives include: Less power draw, less heat output, and 2 6850's would show a significant increase in FPS over 2 4890's.

Im about to go 6850's from a 4870 myself.

going from the top of the line of one series to the current bottom of another??

at a minimum you want a 470, 580, 5870 or 6950 if you really think you need an upgrade. 6850 not worth it.
