My uncle has had a T61 laptop for a while, he has the 1.8GHz variant.

His CPU is a T7100 @ 1.8GHz, TDP of 35w

He wants to upgrade his laptop to support a faster, more powerful processor. His motherboard is a socket P chipset, which means it supports the highest end T9900 @ 3.06GHz

The T9900 is still a 35w part, and uses the same socket for connectivity, but my concern is BIOS compatibility.

Would a high end T9900 be compatible with his BIOS, and/if it isn't, could he reflash another BIOS, with added support?

Thanks - So a T9500 @ 2.6 being the best he could fit in?

What about the BIOS compatibility?
