Was thinking about upgrading from my 9600 GT SLI setup to a 4870. I have a couple questions:
What brand?
512 or 1gb?
How much real world performance will I see in games?
and will the 4890 be priced within the same range on release?

it will be an upgrade in gaming performance but i'm not sure by how much, but where it will really shine is with AA on.

PS: do you really need the upgrade at 1680x1050?

Why not just get a single GTX 260 Core 216 for now then SLI later on...

well the 4890s will be $199 for the 512mb version and probably $250 for the 1GB. So if you can get a 4870 dirt cheap get one, preferably the 1GB if its cheap enough.

I think a 4870 wont be a big upgrade though for you. You could get around 130 for your graphics cards so if you go 4890 1GB instead itll only cost you a little over a benjamin....or go green!

Yeah, thinking for a bit the 4890 is really interesting me. I'll probably sell one of my cards and give the other to my brother which will net me a little money. I don't want to pay that much for a 200 series and SLI has alot of problems with games I play, mainly source engine games.
