PU: AMD FX-4300 processor (AM3+ Socket)
Motherboard: MSI 760GM-P23(FX) (MS-7641)
Ram: 16gb
Power: 500 watts
Graphics: 2gb ddr5 GeForce GTX 740
Currently setup.

Wondering what motherboard to upgrade too, people keep saying its crap! I would like to know the max board I can run and the budget friendly motherboard if possible. Psu same / or upgraded 6-core amd or 8 core? And do I really have to install Windows 10 again??

Honestly I'd upgrade GPU and then CPU if gaming or vice versa if not before worrying about board.

I'd buy a Gigabyte UD3P. I'd get a better GPU first though

Have to agree here with both of the above. Assuming gaming is the main task at hand, gpu comes first no doubt about it.

There's little CPU performance scaling if you compare to GPUs in gaming. Unless your running a dual core CPU, above 4 the difference is not very significant.

First off, you need to check your PSU. Seems that your PSU is a cheap one, so first thing is check and make sure it is a quality 500W Power Supply.

Perhaps a nice R9 380 4GB paired with a FULL HD monitor (at least) will bring some good gaming and desktop use for you.

About your CPU and Motherboard, wait of Zen and change both devices.
