My cousin has a stock Dell i580 and was wondering if his 775 board would support an i5, he currently has a Pentium G6960. The reason I ask was because my stock i570 had a board that wouldn't support a 960T properly from an Athlon II, it would read its speed at 800mhz instead of the stock 3ghz. What do you think could he get a first gen. i5 or i7?

That would be socket 1156 and yes a first gen i3 or i5 will work well in it. I wouldn't waste the money on a 1156 i7 for a dell.
