I just got back from getting 2 of them. One at EB and one at Gamestop. Apparently each store gets either 8, 16 or 32 depending on market size.

This might be too late for some, but the west coasters can still make it.

I walked in to EB at 20 after 10am (they started selling at 10am) and walked out with a PS3 Premium reciept. Happy hunting!

Boy, it would suck if Sony abandons the gaming line due to falling profits.

Sony didnt announce it until late last night - I know a guy that works at gamestop and his boss called him at midnight last night to tell him about it.

I was gonna ask if I could reserve 2, but I don't think the guy would have let me. Might call around and see if there are anymore anywhere and reserve a second one, but I think they will all be taken.

GS and EB wouldn't let anyone get more than 1 - and if you go to different Gamestops, use different phone numbers, apparently they all work off of the same DB, and if a # shows up twice, they pull all but one order.
Not sure if this is the way it goes anywhere else, but better safe than sorry.

That you can reserve a playstation 3, if you are lucky to get to the store in time, you will get one on nov. 17th.

Most likely, becasue GS and EB are now owned by the same people. Just have to make sure to be there to pick it up that morning it comes out, or they will sell it to someone else. That is if you don't go to the midnight opening, if your stores are doing that.

But like I said, can't go to another store till I get off work, which by then, they will all be gone, or I would think they would be, since it won't be till this afternoon.

The new PlayStation 3 is now available for pre-order at may locations in limited quantity.

You can put $100 down on a new PS3 and you will [most likely] get one on the release date of Nov 17th.

Just make sure that you are there that morning that it opens. You also have to reserve a game, but that is like $5.

To those preordering to profiteer from the scarcity: Shame on you. You are scum.

To those preordering because they are Sony fanboys: Suckers.

To those preordering because to get a cheap Blu-Ray player: Smart economics, but Blu-Ray sucks and I hope you wind up with a glorified Betamax.

To those preordering because they really want to play the games: Kudos! Although I still think you're kind of a sucker for plunking down $100 for something you may or may not actually receive six weeks from now. Although in this case I guess I can understand it.

Well the whole putting down a $100, and getting it or maybe not getting it, isn 't that big of a deal. I mean if you don't get it, then you just get your money back. Not that hard.

It's funny they put Pre-Sale up for these when they were just annoucned as very unstable because of heat problems. I guess they need more money to support a failing cause.

I think that is mircosoft's and sony's big problem. They are trying to rush things. Put to much power into to small of a space. Look at the Wii, its not big, just average size of all the other gaming machines, but grant it, its not as strong as the 360 or PS3, but they have had no problems with it, and instead of being like oh, well ours has so many cell processors and crap like that, they came up with a new way to play the game, with their Movement sensor controller, I don't know what they are calling. Microsoft and sony are just trying to go for the strongest, fastest machine and the best graphics possible,, which is just giving them problems, they are basically thinking of themselves so they can brag they have the best system, why nintendo is thinking of gameplay and has had no problems, and the fact that they Wii is the cheapest of the 3.

Also, I think it could just be a fluck with the heat problem. I have a friend who has a 360, and has never had a problem with it, he bought it frist day it came out, and he has it on 24/7, using it as his media center. Just a luck of the draw.

Well Nintendo is the last surviving of the recent generation of gaming consoles. Sony and Microsoft are sort of newbies compared to Nintendo. Nintendo is good at what it does.

EDIT: Granted their last system wasn't the most appealing, it did still keep them in the ranks to build a new console.

I blame that mostly on marketing. The GameCube was actually a pretty powerful little system, more powerful than the PS2 anyway (or at least the graphics look better, I don't know the full tech sheet for either console).

The controller was pretty bad too, IMHO. Some folks liked it, but they are wrong.
