A friend of mine at work said that he was trying yo use his laptop on his tv to watch movies. He said WMP comes up and shows all the controls and everything, but whenever he presses play, nothing but a black box is shown in WMP, he said the laptop is 2 years old, and never had the video drivers updated. I dont know what type of laptop it is, but thought maybe this was a general common problem. Any ideas?

I think it's a problem with the refresh rate of the screens, an LCD monitor being much more sophisticated than a TV... i suggest he tries one by one since i don't know which setting would be correct...

He should adjust the video overlay feature within WMP.

Tools -- Options -- Performance Tab -- Advanced

Mess around with the options that I have surrounded with the orange box. First try to DISABLE Video Overlays and see how that works for 'em.
