ok well my ram is running at 240 and i figured out how to access my advanced settings in the bios and tried to tigten the timings to 3-3-3-6 from 3-3-3-8, stable so far, but when i had it ad 2.5-3-3-6 it was artifacting...

which timings should i play with? (just say the 1st or second number or w/e because its ligned up that way in the bios lol)

but should i leave the CAS latency and go for the other ones or what?

Good questions--that is seriously OCed RAM--if I understand 200 to by stock--in general the higher you clock the memory the slacker you will need to go with the timings--as far as performance goes it's really a matter of using the same benches repeatedly with different setttings to see if more speed is better than tighter timings--because you can't have them both... Have you tired upping the voltage regarding your stability issue? In general DDR 400 ValueRam will respond to 2.5 3 3 7 up to about half what you are OCing at (ie 220) so having to slack off to 3338 to get up to 240 is no nig deal as far as a performance hit.

The first timing is probably the one that makes the most improvement,but has the least adjustment (like .5) although the last of the timings usualy can be tweaked the most (like 2 points) the performance gain is minimal.

Unstable RAM is pretty useless (like for Folding, etc) so Underclocking the RAM or at least keeping it close to stock is a pretty common way of cranking the FSB and CPU into the stratosphere--looks like you are already there!

Since your using value RAM, 240 at 3-3-3-8 is pretty good. But if you want a slight improvement in speed, you might be able to lower the tRP (Third Number) to 2, and/or the tRAS (Last Number) to 5-6. And also what is your vDIMM at (DRAM voltage)? And what overclock is your 3000 running at?

i'm at 3-3-3-6 from 3-3-3-8 and it seems stable in all my games and the FPS took a spike also because i'm using integrated

i didn't know that 240 was a big oc on ram

should i get some heatspreaders?

oh yeah and the FSB is at 240 so i have an overclock of 2.160 ghz

Umm...I doubt heatspreaders would make too much of a difference. But try doing what I said in this post:

And see if you notice a difference in like Superpi 1m.

You might be able to get a more stable overclock by enabling 2T timings.

ok well right now i'm at 240 at 2-2-2-6 perfectly stable on my Kingston VALUE RAM!!!

Hmm, I guess you upped your vdimm and that helped huh?
Yea, that's a pretty wicked OC. Now just up your CPU multiplier to get a better CPU clock

I was going to suggest that you back your tRas (fourth number) to 8 so that ou could lower your CAS to 2.5, since looser tRas numbers often provide decent stability for CAS to cope with. Guess you don't need to do that anymore though!

El-cheapo memory can be surprising at times...my A-DATA junk is running at 235 MHz with timings of 2.5-2-4-6 and those timings were auto detected by my mother board...I figured they wouldn't get much better so I left them there. I have had it running at 250...but the timings had to loosen up. This is at 2.65 volts too.

RAM is my next major purchase, but I keep puting it off since this stuff seems to be working fine...honestly I'd love it if a stick were to die
