Are you positive you are configuring your host to the appropriate subnet associated to your routers internal facing lan? DHCP is enabled on your router?

Thanks for the reply. dhcp is enabled and i thought maybe an ip conflict with another machine (2 other pc's use the router) so i assigned several different static ip's using the same default gateway and subnet settings (which work with all other pc's on the network) with no luck.
I also restored my router to factory settings, Still no luck i turned off all firewalls in router config page and windows as well as connecting directly from the modem wiht no router, still all the same issues.

I have ruled out cables and router, The modem and router were both bought in feb 2011 and work fine with all other pc's in the home. I'm suspecting mb issues because i clearly recall using hardwire on the board in the past with xp.
However both pci adapters have the same result (pci cards tested on different pc both worked) so i dont believe it to be the the board. Also the 2 usb ports directly under the ethernet port work.

Nvidia's chipsets have never been the best, and it may well be an fault in the onboard adapter. Even a basic 10/100 card will do the job to troubleshoot the issue. Scrap that, reading the OP for the win! You have 3 possible problems there, cables, router and motherboard. Nvidia chipsets have never been the best, and it's possible that's going. Reset the router to factory default settings, and then try it. Have you used the same ethernet cable on each NIC? If so, find another one to try, or, even better, move the base unit to where there's a known working machine plugged in (if any) and try it on that cable. |
