depending on what outputs your laptop has, you just need a compatible cable to run from your laptop to your tv... but keep in mind, unless you have an edtv or hdtv, the resolution is going to be around 640x480 and the text wont really be readable... games will look horrible but its not bad for watching videos
if your tv doesnt have an s-video input, go buy an rf adapter, hook it up to the tv, and run an s-video cable from your laptop to the s-video input on the rf adapter... it should be automatically detected
I did that for a while with my desktop in order to watch videos before I modded my xbox and it worked fine... if it doesnt work for you, come on back and well try to sort it out
