I built my friends PC yesterday and let him borrow my graphics card. The computer was smooth and fast for the longest time, until we replaced onboard with an Asus 9600GSO. Then the PC began lagging due to the crappy drivers, that once uninstalled and reinstalled, reverted PC back to its fast speeds. After that, we attempted starting any game, and the moment you entered it, you were kicked. Took out the card, used onboard, and voila! it worked. He's using 64-bit XP, but I'm about to reformat AGAIN and get him Vista 32-bit.

I would either try Vista or Windows 7. The drivers could be to blame. I had similar problems with my system when I had the 9800 GX2. Windows x64 and Vista x64 both gave me problem with video until I switched to Vista x86. Try different variations of the driver and also make sure the onboard video is turned on the Disable Mode. Sometimes the Auto function in the bios doesn't turn it off properly so you would have a video conflict.
Make sure to uninstall the old drivers before installing new ones. If you don't do that, it will cause problems for sure. If you did uninstall the driver, then try an older driver or a beta driver; I once had the same problem and that fixed it.
