Video Size Problem on Burnt DVD

247 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  [email protected]
I just burned a .avi video onto a DVD using Windows Movie Maker, but when I viewed the finished DVD on my TV, the video wasn't stretching towards the edges of the TV. The whole video was all scrunched up in the middle. I'm guessing the problem lies in the video's resolution. If it is, I'll find another copy with a higher resolution

Video resolution is 656x272

You burned a compressed video?

Get a DVD-R version if you plan on burning them to DVD's. Usually they're about 4.3GB. You can use a program like Nero to burn it as an image, and it will play without a problem.
the most likely problem would be Windows Movie Maker since for the most part it is a crappy program. I would try http://www.dvdflick.net/ http://favcfavc.googlepages.com/home http://code.google.com/p/winff/ or http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

You sure Windows Movie Maker is a crappy program? I used it many times in the past without any problems.

Anyone think that the problem lies in the codec settings, because I was using an older version of DivX when I successfully burned the previous DVDs

I wouldnt use WMM if someone paid me to. You could try updating the Divx codec it cant hurt. If the video looks squished it screwed up when it added the black bars would be my guess. I only used it a couple times and I dont remember all the settings for it so I couldnt tell you if have a setting set wrong. DVDFlick and Convertx are probably the 2 best one click dvd programs around

Well, I reinstalled my codec and burnt my DVD. The DVD was fine. It was either the switch to DVDFlick or the reinstallation of my codec that fixed it.
