Virus removal

So i usually use spy-bot, ad-aware, and bit defender for all my virus and malware needs, but on my familys laptop which i dont really care about enough to scan often, somehow they got a ton of stuff on it, and i cant even get past all the pop up to update anything to run scans. so i decided i wouldnt bother and just went into safe mod and updated manually. THIS DIDNT WORK, somehow all the pop ups are making it into safe mode, and nothing i have thrown at this will stop them im looking for a program that will put them to rest, any suggestions or tips??

If this is in the wrong section, a mod, or admin can move it as they feel necessary.

Thanks,
Rich

Try the freeware programs first, such as Avast, Avira, or AVG.
If that doesn't work, then invest in a virus murder-death-kill program like Kaspersky or NOD32.
If that doesn't work, it's time to reformat.

OH, you got *that* one... My girlfriend got that 3 times, and my friend just got it too. Um... pull the HD, plug it in as a slave in another machine, THEN scan it. It's the only way...

And be prepared to have fun with the registry, possibly.

Oh, and don't pull it, then backup files, then reinstall. It'll get into exe's. And.. don't use system restore, either. I think it infected those.

That's not a virus, that's a job application.

Im waiting on ram for my sig rig currently so until then im SOL, all i got is my other laptop, but as soon as i get my ram im defiantly going to do that, even if i can just get this cleaned up enough so that they can use it a little bit it should be able to wait until Friday or so, How did your friends obtain this, im just wondering what programs seam most likely to let this in?

I think my girlfriend and my friend's mom (she was using the comp when it happened) were both on some free video game website. Another time, the gf was just showing me some pic she was looking at on google... that miley cyrus racist one.

Sorry for the double post, but, don't try to run the machine... it's only getting deeper =p It's best to just turn it off.

On a sidenote, I used this to hook up the 2.5 to my other comp. One of the coolest new toys ever.
I use the power supply to bleed my loop

After spybot and ad-aware, i'd try Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware, TrendMicro HijackThis, and Advanced SystemCare.
Typically I don't scan anti-virus because if it passed the live scan, manual scans usually don't help either.

Yea true, i think im just going stick it in my desktop eventually and scan it, if that doesnt work then ill reformat, a fresh install wont hurt anyways, theres nothing on it really just programs since they save all there work to flash drives.

I'm doing this on three computers for clients as we speak. First thing I do is do an avg, spybot, avast, and superantispyware scan in safe mode. I run ccleaner and use panda scanner to do another scan. Run hijackthis and have it analyzed. Then I follow it up with a few more scans and if I really have some problems I run Nod32. It gets to a point thought where its a lot easier and more practical to reinstall.
