howdy yall,

Just built my folks a new mini-itx system, and I am trying to install Vista 64 bit. However, it just gets to "Windows is loading files" (first screen!) and the bar simply refuses to move after it gets halfway or so. Tried using another dvd drive (one was SATA, one was IDE). Tried another vista disk. nuthin'.

Anything in the BIOS i should enable/disable?

Its a zotac mini-itx 610i board, 4gb ram, 250gb hard disk, E5200 CPU.

I wouldnt post here if I had any clue of what was causing it

thanks In advance,
Nick

if this is durring the black loading screen before you get any kind of GUI, i was say you have a stick of bad RAM. That screen is when windows loads all the data onto RAM for installation, so corrupt blocks will do that to you.

Remove a stick at a time and see if it helps any~

If I remember right, my vista installation paused for a while at a certain part and remained at that certain percent, and then about 15 minutes later installation proceeded. Maybe let it sit for a little bit to see if the installation will continue on its own?

well, no.
I thought instead of wasting 15 mins FIRST, why not remove the ram first.

although I have to get more RAM, I should be able to rma it.
