Vista 64bit, WMP11 pausing issue

I had this issue with my old pc and this pc when going from Windows Vista 32bit to 64bit.

When I play HD videos with WMP11 with vista 64bit I get a pause in the video every few seconds. This does not happen with 32bit however.

To fix this problem I decided to use a different media player called GOM Player, this works flawlessly for files local to my pc.

The problem I have now is I like to watch videos by streaming them, some live, some not, and if they are HD video I get the same issue when streaming.

Does anyone know of a way I could possibly fix this issue, or use a different player such as GOM Player to play streamed WMP videos?

Thanks for your time!

I have the same exact problem and have not been able to resolve it. I will try this gom player to see if it helps, but I guess I would have the same problem still with streaming.

I hope we find an answer!
The card I have works fine for everything else? Could my card really be causing this whole problem?

What should I get? I do not really do much gaming on my PC anymore so I do not need anything crazy.
I didnt think I needed a new card especially because I do not play any games, I found an alternative to playing local videos, but what to do about streaming WMP streams?
You can change the program that Windows uses to open media files by useing Control Panel.

Control Panel -> Programs -> Default Programs -> Set your default programs
That did not work for me, when trying to stream video from like IGN for examply, it loads an internet based version of WMP but still has the same problem.

Anyway to make it so I can view streaming WMP material with a different program?

In that case when in Internet Explorer 7 you need to select Tools then Internet Options. From there select the Programs tab and finally the Manage add-ons button. All you'll need to do then is scroll to find Windows Media Player on the list box and use the option button to disable it. This will force your web browser to use an alternative plaer for streaming media content.

Ok I did that and it made it so that WMP did not work, Thank for that.

The problem I have now is it is not allowing me to use a different program, its asking me to install or enable to WMP activeX program to watch it.

Anyway around that lol

Thanks!

Simple, you download and install an alternative media player. Installing the latest version of Real Player should also install the relevant browser plug-ins to allow you to view streaming content again. Though you may need to go back into Manage add-ons to make your new media player enabled.
