Can you give us the exact message you are getting when it asks for drivers?

I would also check in your bios to ensure the IDE ports are set correctly.
Is this drive new?

Search for Computer Management and then go to Storage>Disk Management. If it shows up there make sure it's formatted.

i don't know,it just asks for the driver for like any other new hardware.
there is a dvd-rw drive running on the same IDE cable and works perfectly.

it is not new,i was using it yesterday and out of the blue it dissapeared and started asking for drivers.

delete it from device manager and restart your computer.

Perhaps look for a IDE driver on motherboards manufacturers website. Although I'd imagine it would be in a chipset pack which you said you already did.
