Hah, also sorry if I sounded mean or harsh, I just tend to assume that everybody knows everything like I do
basically its just the next OS from Microsoft but all it is going to be is a reskinned XP that suppsedly is twice as RAM hungry, oh boy, can't wait.

Vista = Teh suhhx!1!11!!one!111

w00t 2300th post.

TOPIC NEEDS TO BE MOVED
Actually vista is going to pwn. Despite its high system requirements, (1 gig of ECC ram, and a high proc speed around 3.0 (intel) or something. Honestly, Intel is going to benefeit the most from this gig because of its close relationship with microsoft. any questions? majorbummer5 xfire me.

I do agree with that though. But it was also like going from 98 to XP. XP needed more RAM and now our "standard" for normal/gaming comptuers is 1GB, where in 98 it was a lot less.

Now we're going to Vista and our "standard" (or typical, i guess would be the word) is going to be about 2GB

ECC? Why the hell would someone need Registered ram?

Actually I heard that VISTA will be 64bit compatable, so that isn't totally true. AMD, I think will equally benefit. As for the 2gb of ram...that seems a wee bit high. I don't think that vista could be THAT memory hungery.
BTW do you speak spanish...in the title...que means what. LOL
Anyone know the system requirements for vista? I know that Microsoft won't release the requirements until this summer, but I think there have been some leaks.
recommended ECC 512 MB DDR RAM
CPU: intel-2.0GHZor^ AMD-1.8GHZor^
HDD space: likely 3-6GB
GFX tech: onboard or off, atleast 4MB VRAM

thats what i hear 'round the office
Really? I was under the impression the requirements were much higher.

Intels 64-bit too, but i think amd will be a step behind because intel and microsoft are almost butt buddies....but i dont like vista, but i wish they didnt make you upgrade by making new games using vista only....like halo 2

Microsoft is not rushing Vista like they did "ME"... I think this may (possible) be a quality OS.
no, that would be stupid to forcre people to buy new hardware, vista will work fine on what we have now.
i mean obviously anything below 1.5GHZ wont work, were XP would, so you know its still being stepped up

it wont be as power hungry as we all think
Aero Glass currently requires a decent DX9 card. It will require a DX10 card when it comes out for hardware acceleration with the graphics card. The December CTP seemed pretty solid on 1GB of RAM so I think thats a requirement. Anything over 1.5GHz is a requirement too. They may come down as things get more optimised, but AFAIK, thats going to be it.
it runs fine on 512 DDR, ive seen it, i used it with 512.
