Vista vs Me epic battle

Well vista after a solid year and a half of flawless function decided to corrupt its hal file or something of the sorts, but when i attempt a system restore or try and just reinstall vista it hangs right after boot from CD. It does not do that if i put in a windows XP CD it will continue on to install. Any ideas as to why its doing this? P.S. at first i thought maybe my main drive was on the fritz so i bought a new seagate drive, no fix there.

best thing to do is to VLite your DVD, that way you can make a backup copy.

Vista is more compressed than XP so the CD or DVD can corrupt easier and make the install hang.
