Hey guys, really need some help here so I came to the MB section since nobody in CPU helped, which I assume is because it is not really a CPU issue, lol oops.

Anyway, In Speedfan, I am getting correct voltages ie +12v is 11.19 +5v is 5.21

But then I am getting -12v as 0.72 positive, and -5v as 2.09 positive. Shouldn't those be negative numbers?

What could be causing that? I assumed if there were voltage issues the board just wouldn't run.

Also, could this be contributing to the fact that my pc keeps shutting down and restarting when I get a few minutes into something? I run IE for 10 minutes and its ok, but then run a video and BAM it crashes. Then I run a big game and it runs about 2 minutes into the game and crashes. And sometimes it just reboots the whole PC, not shut down, restarts!

I really need help guys, I just bought all these parts and can't wait to really use them, and I got a new 19" widescreen for XMAS and can't really use that! Have you ever seen Joint Task Force on widescreen? It's rediculous!

Please help! Asrock support is on VACATION until the 2nd of January!

Software voltages are not accuate at all. In fact, I get readings something like that too. If you want to know the true voltages, you will need to use a multimeter and test the lines.

About your crashes, I would say that it is probably PSU related, but before you go out and buy a new PSU, make sure you test the voltages with a multimeter.

Here's two tables that will help you with testing the different voltages. If you need help let us know.

Hey thanks for the reply!

How sure are you it is the PSU? It sounds very likely, I am just not sure where my multimeter is and think if you are sure its the PSU I'll just get a new PSU.

Where would you recommend I get it? I really would like to get it now, otherwise I would NewEgg it. I was thinking BestBuy or CircuitCity. They seem really pricey though, on the website.

What wattage do I need? My system specs are below.

Thanks again!

Hmm nevermind, Newegg has horrible horrible ratings for it (customer reviews) so that's out. I really trust the people out there, so what's the news? What should I get and where?

Hey, just got back from vacation, and I guess I'm the only one willing to help.

Anyway, for that system I'd go with something on newegg if you didn't already pick something up. FSP has good performance for the price and seasonic has amazing efficiency as well as silence. Those are the two best brands that come to mind right now, but there are lots of others too.

Actually, bought this:
X-Finity 600W

It should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. What do you think of it?

Thanks for the reply, honestly nobody really wanted to help! I had a few other replies in another thread on a different topic, lol.

Thanks fishie!
