I went from a MX518 to a G400 about a month ago and i'm loving it.
The more textured feel on the top of the mouse is nice and the rubber grip feels more durable.

The sound is deeper when I am directly comparing the mice side by side but the click feels identical.
The G400 surface feels so much nicer than the MX, It is excellent if you get sweaty hands and the grip shape is identical

I've been using my G400 for six months now; the rubber grips are in perfect shape.

The Logitech G400 has a damped feel and sound of the main mouse buttons, or at least the one I got does. You can also check out the SteelSeries mice like the Sensei Raw or Diablo III mouse if you're into the ambidextrous shape.
