He will be gaming @720p,browsing and not much more!We still haven't established a budget but it needs to be as low as possible. Will be something in the Rs.20,000-25,000 range.Thinking about getting an APU.Since there aren't any Kaveri parts in India that mortals can buy, gotta go Richland. Is it worth it?Will it be enough for gaming @720p?We've already found the other parts as cheaply as possible and are only confused on the CPU and board(and RAM)
And some more questions:
1.Can two sticks of independently bought RAM overclock?
2.Will he have to OC the RAM to get decent performance at that resolution?
3.Or will it be better going Pentium+GPU?

Thanks!

Well if you pick up some 1866 MHz or higher RAM with the APU you won't need to OC it, it should run fine at that resolution. And Richland APU may be a better option than a Pentium at this point with more games getting better threaded lately.

A Richland APU and some fast RAM will do the job for 720p gaming, easily. This is just the type of situation where the APU's a great choice. Pop in some 1866 or 2133 memory to keep the on-board GPU fed and you're good to go.

AMD should be ashamed of themselves for not getting Kaveri to India yet. For crying out loud, if you're going to name your chip after a river in India, then make the product available in India!

K series Kaveri APUs are available in India but they cost just over $200, only FM2+ MB which are available cost $200 and a RAM with 2133 MHz will also cost a lot, it's just out of reach of most people. Hoping A6 comes with low price or Intel again breaks AMD's arrogance.
