I'm thinking of upgrading the rig in my sig to something a little better... I mean it can play all the games I currently own (Crysis 2, BC2, CS2, WoW, etc), all on almost high graphics. However, I'm looking to either upgrade the mobo (Currently intel, therefore the cpu is not overclocked), or would it be better to buy an i5/i7.

If I buy a new mobo, I will end up buying a new cpu/mobo/ram within 3 years.

So if you can keep that in mind, please suguest me somethings I should do.

Btw, the only game that I'm looking to purchase this year is BF3, even though we do not have system requirements, based on similar games, tell me if I have the capability of running it on decent settings ( with my current rig).

Finally, the most important thing is my budget. Right now I'm looking to spend around $200 on an upgrade this year. Hopefully it will be under because I would like to purchase some other things for the computer aswell.

Well finding a new ( HIGH END)775 mobo is not easy ! But some quality used ones can be had. IMO a good used sli/overclockable mobo/ and a ssd big enough for your OS ! You should be good to go for a while. Unless you want to gut it out and go more current platform 1155/1366!

With a $200 budget getting a good upgrade that you will notice will not be a walk in the park. This is what I'd recommend. Sell your current core system (i.e. the motherboard, cpu, and ram) (on the marketplace, or elsewhere) and hopefully acquire about $150 that way. Then purchase yourself a Core i5 2500K, 4GB DDR3 RAM, and a cheap mATX motherboard for around $350. OR this is what I would do...just keep what you have until Bulldozer comes out and then look at your options. Because, frankly what you have now should be good for most (if not all) games currently out there and spending only $200 to upgrade is wasteful, IMHO. Just my 2c. GL~

Yeah that's what I'm saying, my cpu can run all the games I currently have, BC2 at max settings is an example.

I really don't NEED an upgrade, but I just want to be able to enjoy BF3 when it comes out, and if I can start collecting parts right now I'll see what I can do.

And I think tomorrow I'll put my core components on craigslist and see how much I get offered. I wish I could post it on the marketplace but I don't have the rep

Better to sell the current rig and purchase a new one ... for 200$ its hard to move on somewhere...
