Want to WC lots of components.

Hi all, I am thinking of selling two or three of my current rigs and going i7. If I do, I definately want to try water cooling.

I have limited access to parts because I am in Australia - so keep in mind I cant buy from most US online stores.

I want to cool an i7 920, a gigabyte UD5 / UD4P northbridge, and two GTX285s.

The first question: Will I need two loops to cool all that?
The second question: Does that mean I need two rads?
Third question: How, for the love of god, do I fit that in/on a case?
Last question: Are these components decent?

Swiftech Apogee GTZ waterblock, i7 mount
Swiftech MCW 30 Chipset waterclock
Swiftech MCW60 VGA Waterblock with GT200 adapter (x2)
Swiftech MCP655-B 12V Pump
Swiftech MCRES Micro Rev2 Reservoir
Swiftech MCR320-QP Radiator (this is the only 3 fan rad I can find)

Thanks all!

1 you can use one loop to cool the components
2 yes I would recommend 2 360 rads
3 all components will be fine, I would use a 360 feser rad or 360thermachill if you can.
You will need fans too, I would recommend yate loon fans and a Sunbeam RHK-EX-SV Rheobus-Extreme 5.25" Bay 4 Channel 30W Fan Controller Panel

it would go res-pump-rad-cpu-nb-rad-gpu-gpu-res

If you do 2 loops you will get better perfomance

I would recommend ordering from Petras Tech. They may ship international to australia. I know they shipped internationally to me in Canada before.

I would think that it would be easier to mount two rads, possibly a MCR320, and a MCR220 rad. You'll have to mount them externally if you're using the case in your sig. If you're still deciding on a case, get a coolermaster haf, antec 1200, silverstone tjo7 or the cm cosmos s.

And as far as your components go, great decisions.

Don't forget to get some fans too. I would recommend medium speed yate loons. As far as your tubing I would personally stick with 3/8 or 1/2" tubing and pick up some Bits Power compression fittings for either size you opt to go with.

If you're not looking to spend too much on the fittings, just grab some worm drive clamps and some danger den "fatboy" fittings and you're good to go.

Good luck with your WC.

I would get a better case, like the Cosmos S.
Pump - D5/MCP655
Rad - 2x mcr320qp or 1x 360 thermochill and 1x 240 thermochill
cpu block - apogee gtz
gpu block - 2x dtek fuzion and 2x dtek unisinks
res - any should work fine.
fans - low speed yate loons if you get mcr320qps
fan controller - sunbeam rhoebus extreme

In the cosmos S, you can mount a 360 rad up top and a 240 rad on the bottom maybe, or a rad in the front bays.

Just a couple of things...
The apogee gtz doesn't look like its a good performer on the i7 platform. Look for an EK supreme if possible, or a koolance 350.

I would definitely go with 2 radiators. The i7 is a great heater, the the dual gtx280's are plenty hot also. MCR320, xspc rx360, or magicool elegant are all good contenders. Given the price of the thermochills, I just don't feel like they're a good buy anymore.

I would recommend a ddc3.2/mcp355 pump over the d5/mcp655. The 355 actually develops more pressure which will be important considering you're looking to run 4 waterblocks and 2 radiators.

As for a case, CM cosmos S or HAF932 are good bets. Both fit a triple rad inside, and can be modded to fit a double inside, otherwise hang the double off the back with a rad box...

Thanks for the help everyone, I will look around. Unfortunately, my selection of radiators is severely limited - I will check if Petra's Tech shop ships to me, but I doubt it. I forgot to mention I was planning to buy a new case - either some fancy ass Lian Li or a cooler master something.

Thanks for the help all - now I just have to sell my computers to raise money. I wont sell them on OCN because people know how much they are really worth (about AU$3000 together, and I need to sell them for AU$4000 to afford my i7 rig).

+rep to all who helped!

The swiftech apogee gtz is one of the best water blocks out there and the d-tek fusion 2

I have nothing but love for the GTZ (I have one in my sig rig!) but for the i7 there are better options...

EDIT: When XS comes back up after maintenance do a search for 'I7 waterblocks Version2'

Javier: Thanks for the info, just found a great W/Cing site that stocks the EK supreme.

Does anyone have any suggestions for radiators?

Thermochill or feser rads

Cheers, any particular models? Or just what is cheapest/fits best.
OP, I would consider running 2 loops and keeping the video cards separate from your CPU. They will dump a lot of heat into the loop. As for rads, The GTX360 and Primochill 120.3 are both excellent rads. The GTX360 will offer slightly better performance, but the Primochill will keep up with really low speed fans. I personally like a quiet system and have no problems keeping my Q9650 at 4.2GHz with a Primochill 120.3 and three 120mm Scythe (110 CFM at 1900 rpm) fans running at 50%.
Thanks... I'm not sure if I can affored two loops, but if I can then I will be getting one 360 rad and one 240 rad to fit in the CM Cosmos S case. Would you recommend putting the CPU/NB on the 240 and the GPUs on the 360 or the other way around.
there is no 'northbridge' per se, on that i7 board

since memory controller is on the cpu now, what little is there runs cool to the touch
