update, it was BOTH the board and gpu. i picked up a good tested BFG Geforce GTX 285 shipped for 35 off ebay. i got a post out of the asus board, but couldnt get onboard sound to work even though i installed the driver for win xp, it just made crackling sounds. it also refused to post with known good pny optima ddr 400mhz 4x1gb ram sticks which were working pulls. so yea bad board and bad evga gtx 285. i have an opteron 180 sitting here in my room with good pins, and an amd athlon 64 x2 3800+ 2.0ghz dual core 939 chip both. does anyone have a known good fully working socket 939 board with no bad capacitors?
