I am wanting to learn javascript and was wondering if anyone knows of any HANDS-ON books or material for making the learning process quicker. I have been through W3schools and understand the concept, but i learn a lot better with hands on applications, tutorials or book simulations. I do have a strong understanding of HTML and CSS if curious.

So i went into Barnes and Noble and Books-million here in the Murfeesboro area (one of the largest and fastest growing) where i live. Well the once wonderful selection of books for programming or design went from 4 sections down to two with a terrible selection available. Proceeded to customer service to question if they have moved the books to a new area, she said, they downsized for the children's area and said "we have a really popular selection of books available in Javascript". I told her a popular book is not a good book. There was nothing but Dummies books in the programming section. The once convenience of book in hand has diminished.
