For those of you who have not played warthunder before:
Warthunder is a game about planes during WW2 / Korean war, you start off in biplanes and progress to jets, there are 5 powers (America, Germany, Russia, England and Japan) there are other nations included, ie - the Germans have an Italian plane tech tree. There are micro transactions in-game, for instance premium experience boost, talismans (Purchase for planes to increase exp), premium planes (Faster exp, cannot get talisman), currency and exp (Only a little per rank, you still have to manually level this just makes it a tiny bit faster)

Right now there are only planes and AI controlled tanks, but in the future navy and ground units will be player controlled, the game does not require a joystick unless you increase the multiplayer difficulty (Join a FRB server with no flight assist), Its easy to use a mouse, not awkward at all and joysticks have the disadvantage unless you play FRB.

The game is still in beta so planes are not at their final state, some planes may be changed in the future.

1.31 adds some bug fixes, balancing updates, facebook and twitch tv integration, and a few new planes, half of which are premium, which includes premium starter planes, with a exp boost. You can get 1 for free on your first battle by fighting on the respective power for your first battle.

Squadrons

Squdrons are in-game integration of players, designed for joint combat, participation in tournaments and viewing of squadron statistics. The squadrons are designed to unite players under the same tag and title. Members of a Squadron - are brothers in arms who fight side by side, together they share the bitterness of defeat and glory of victory!

You can create your squadron with a unique name, tag and motto. Squadron tags can consist of Latin symbols or numbers of 1 to 5 symbols. The maximum number of players in the squadron at the moment is 128. The cost of creating a squadron is 2500 Golden Eagles. Monitoring the effectiveness of his Squadrons, you can record stats in a special table.

Attention! Squadrons are temporally unavailable before adding pre-registered squadrons via applications on official forum. Full squadron options will be available in two days after the update.

Integration with Facebook and Twitch.tv

Facebook will allow players to share screenshots, end of the battle windows, display their new rank etc. A functional Twitch.tv account will allow players to share videos of their fights directly in real time.

New Tutorials

The Tutorial's have been completely redesigned. Now it's even easier for beginners to learn to shoot, bomb and dogfight!

Play with Your Friends

Now you can invite your friends for a game of War Thunder with special in-game functionality. Those signing up will receive an additional 50 eagles at the first entry to the game! For every friend you get to enrol via your account:

You will receive 50,000 Silver Lions, when a friend reaches Rank 5 in any country.
100 Golden Eagles when one reaches rank 10 in any country.
500 Golden Eagles when one reaches Rank 20 in any country
The unique extra crew slot in each country if 10 friends that you have introduced have all reached rank 10.
As well as additional rewards if a guest buys Eagles!

New maps

Top of the World - Arcade Battles map, inspired by Arctic - dazzling snowy landscapes and a variety of targets: pillboxes, artillery, armoured columns and ships. You will be engaging the enemy in a dynamic battle over the top of the world.
The Cliffed Coast - Arcade Battles map. inspired by Ireland - sharp closely spaced high cliffs is a great place to play cat and mouse. You will perform incredible maneuvers that will help throw off the enemy on your 'six' by creating an obstacle course for him to persue you.
Zhengzhou - Historical Battles map (Custom Battles only at the moment). April 14, 1944 of the 12th Japanese Army of the Northern Front launched an offensive against Chinese troops of the 1st Military District (BP) in the direction of Zhengzhou, Tsyueshan, breaking through the Chinese defence by armoured vehicles. Thus was the beginning of the Beijing-Hankousskoy operation, a day later they moved toward the 11th Army of the Central Front of the District of Xinyang, on the offensive against the 5th Chinese BP to surround the Chinese group in the valley of the Huai River. participating in this operation in the main areas was 148,000 Japanese soldiers and officers. The attack was successfully completed by May 9. Parts of the two armies joined in the town of Tsyueshan. During the operation, the Japanese had captured the strategically important city of Zhengzhou (April 19) and Luoyang (25 May). In the hands of the Japanese was a large part of the province of Henan and the entire railway line from Beijing to Hankou.

Also russia day is soon, which gives discounts on exp conversions and russia planes.

Also they added recruitment links, to recruit friends. Anyone who signs up gets 50 golden eagles when using a recruiting link, the recruiter gets silver lions the person who registered reaches rank 5, and eagles when they reach rank 10 (100GE) and 20 (500GE), when they purchase golden eagles, as well as an extra crew slot if 10 people reach rank 10.

Me and my friend have played this game over a month and found it very entertaining.. Anyhow, warthunder patch thread i guess.

1.31 is awesome. very well done. I had to adjust my sweetfx settings...less sharpening. looks great, and the plane mods are great too. ok let's start a squad. i'm at work now but can read up on how to do that tonight. reply if you want in everyone...

I love this game but I cant get the controls to work properly. Has anyone been able to get it to work with a 360 controller?

if you are playing arcade, drop the 360 controller. you'll get worked by those using mouse and keyboard. I tried it, and it's nearly impossible to aim at other plans. if you are playing historical battles, it's a better for a joystick. haven't tried my 360 controller, but did on arcade, and quickly switched.

I have x-plane for the joystick experience, but war thunder is really designed for mouse and keyboard.

Currently there are some wobbling issues for many planes when using a joystick. Devs know about the problem and are hopefully trying to fix it.

Until they fix it, stick to Mouse & Keyboard or fly Full Real Battles.

Also, I play on EU & fly Germans(12) & now Russians(7) in Historical Battles. In game name is same as here.

I play it with xbox 360 controller and iam telling you its either I suck ( big time ) or the controller does-It takes me 20-30 minutes to shoot down 1 plane lol! .......... I have to agree invest in a decent joystick that's my next move.I really wanted to get that Thrust-master A10 joystick but I cant bring myself to spend $500 dollars on it ( the wife would kill me )....Maybe something in the $100 range what do you guys recommend? .....What are we gonna call our squad btw? I want in pweese>? hehe:D

Costs 2500GE to make one, mainly for tournaments... Think you can reserve a squadron name/tag in the forum, think it may be too late now however...
Guess it won't take too long to implement, probably will roll in with economy change, hopefully soon-ish. Then i will probably go USA and get a B-17 and fly in formation with my friend (When he gets one).

My nick is shinyafro, most of the time i play with friends though sometimes i occasionally lone wolf.

Did anyone else take a fps hit after the recent update?!......I lost ALOT iam barely cracking 20 fps fully maxed compared to running in the 60s prior to update ( what the hell have you done gajin )

Man, I love this game. The new graphics options make this game even more appealing (except for dense fog.........WHY!? I'm running into mountains...)

nickname: aznpersuazn. I'm currently using the British set in the Level 5 Category. I usually get 4-7 consecutive Air kills.

Yes, with all the new graphics settings, I was at 60-70 fps avg. on Sapphire 2GB 6950 stock. Now I am down to 30- high 40s.

Then theres something seriously wrong iam running dual 6970s & getting a fraction what your getting! .....what clocks are you running? I seem to be in the 20 fps range but i like to max everything out plus iam running 3870x1080 resolution.
