Was about to anodize my P182 to black but...

I will anodize it my local anodizing industry for a pretty pricey tag but I hope it will be as I want it to be.
Will send them a piece of the case (front plate you take of for installment of a 5.25 drive) and see if they first of all can use it since all (what I know) cases already have some layer of paint on from the beginning.

First and last time this case will weight this little

I will use the 5.25 bay plate as a sample before going full scale.
Trials and Errors aren't the best thing on tight budget

When all is done it will be black and nice as my CMS Stacker STC-T01

Have to use my old CMS Stacker case meanwhile.
Wanted to anodize this also but It'd be such a hassle to clean it from that horrid spray paint I used on it...

You can do it yourself, but it's a bit of a process, and a dangerous one at that. If you feel comfortable emptying car batteries and hooking large power to the acid you get, I'll find a link for you. If that sounds too intimidating, best to get someone else to do it.
What color are you going to anodize your case? In my opinion i would never anodize a computer case as the colors just come out as good as they went painted or powder coated. Anodizing is generally used when powder coating a surface isn't strong enough to hold up against wear and tear such as the out doors.

You CAN NOT anodize CORRECTLY doing it your self. Trust me my dad owns an anodizing business. Its not like powder coating were just hook up a few wires here and there and your set, with anodizing you need certain acids, dyes, tanks, filtration systems, etc.

You get a much different look with anodizing, and the colour actually "impregnates" itself into the metal so durability can't be topped. You can still see the aluminum through most anodizing dyes.

Looks like you know have some backround in this topic, so I'll shut up now! There are ways to do it yourself though with preofessional type results. You basically need battery acid, a modified PSU, a plastic tub to put the parts in, some Aluminum foil, your parts and some balls.

About to anodize my p182 black

Hope this turns out well, I like the color of my p182, but I think black would look even better.

Trust me ive seen and handled more anodized parts than you ever will. Just anodizing unless using a super vibrant color really isn't worth it.

lol i thought black was part of the name of the case.

Now that i see your going for black, you NEED to send the company a sample piece and see how it turns out. The problem with doing black is that its really easy get a purple tint.

lol ya the whole "Do It Your Self" anodizing is just a no-no, its just WAYYY to unsafe. You should see how many articles of clothing my dad has with holes in them because just a tiny drop from a part got on his clothing.

I will have it in Black and I rather have it anodized since I painted the last one and it fell of where the side panel was mounted.

And I have no scratches on the case so I will have a good result if the anodizing bites on the aluminum of the case.

I am in no way doubting your knowledge, but I disagree with that statement. So many of auto and bike parts are anodized for look and durability. I work with both all the time, and nothing looks quite like polished anodized alum, and definetly no powder type coating could even come close to replicating that look IMO, or durability. Powder coating chips quite easily actually, we do wheels at work all the time, and I do all my bike frames usually. The powder coat cracks from stress, and then chips off in my experience. Not bad on certain things, terrible for others. To each his own though.

Yeah I have Powder Coated tons of doors for boat and I really can't say I liked the color hue they get compared to the clean and stylish color the anodized ones get.

O i know that, I in return mean no disrespect by other posts. Now when you say polished anodized aluminum are you talking about aluminum that has been colored via anodized then polished? Or are you talking about clear coat anodizing?

Hey OP if you don't mind me asking how much is this place charging you?

I am talking about polishing an aluminum part (most aluminum will come out "chrome-like" if done with care), and then anodizing that polished part with your dye of choice. Shiny!

If he does it at your place, you must call me as I want to take part of this.

And I too have a lot of messed up clothes due to acids and what not. Especially when one day I accidentally poured acid into a test tube that had some banking soda in it and sealed it while it was reacting. It was just 0.30 ~ 0.50 Molar H2So4 but boy did it explode.

I want it matte and not shiny.

Best would be Brushed matte black but it's not possible since the case isn't brush finished.

Matte will look pretty sweet indeed, but I got a thing for shiny stuff! So how much is it costing you?

My dad would bother to do a computer case unless you were sending him hundreds or thousands at a time. lol about your whole spilling acid -tell that to the guy that fell in an acid tank and had to get his skinned shaved DAILY in the hospital for months.

But for a computer case its gonna be really hard and time consuming to polish with getting in all the nooks and crannies.

Just powder coat it....

The case is steel? No other option but to paint/powder with steel. I assumed it was an aluminum chassis. My only suggestion then would be to tape off the areas where the case panels come in contact with the chassis and leave those parts bare so it won't chip.

I didn't really mean to do it to his case, that would be a ridiculous under taking. I bet 100+ hours!

And you fell IN an acid tank? um, ow?
