WC Newbie - idea for an i7+gtx295 setup

Hi there guys.

Would much appreciate your suggestions on the following for cooling an i7 and a single gtx 295:

heatkiller 3.0 acetal
heatkiller x2 for gtx 295
mcp 655 (or maybe two in series?)
EK multioption 250 reservoir or some single 5.25"
2 x PA120.3

I'd really like too keep it all inside the temjin 07 and I've seen people fitting two 360's at the bottom of it.

Any feedback is more than welcome as it's going to be my first setup.
thx

You might as well run two separate loops. I would replace the Pa120.3 with the GTX 360 or TFX 360. Everything else looks good.
a single pump is enough, just as a single rad... get the Magicool Elegant or GTX though, the PA's are way outdated. The Magicool Elegant 360 outperforms it while being prettier, smaller and cheaper. If you use fans below 60-70 CFM get the Magicool, anything higher get the GTX. Some may recommend the Feser XChanger for below 70CFM, but i have yet to see it beat the magicool.
you wont see any better temps with 2 rads vs one... well not with the GTX and some decent fans anyway...

Are you planning on overclocking your CPU? And are going for silence or cooling performance?

For silence I think one PA120.3 is enough for your GPU and CPU
For Cooling performance I would get a Black Ice GTX360 or GTX480 with some high static pressure 38mm fans

Looks good. Two loops may be an option for you, but not necessary. If space is an issue, consider using mcr320 rads since they're thinner and still perform very well, and maybe consider using mcp355/ddc3.2 pump(s) since they're smaller and actually more powerful.
Oh..yah,, I agree with them=)
@unleaded91: going to o/c by all means, wouldn't it be a sin to let the i920 run at original clock?

I was thinking about two loops but the dual setup in that case seems to require some modding which I currently have neither time nor resources to do....

Another thing has been going round my head - is there a point in WC'ing the northbridge on X58 since the mem controller has moved to cpu chip and so on... Cause if there is two loops would be appropriate, right? I mean loop1: cpu,nb; loop 2: gpu (would leave potential for another card?)

Silence is not the ultimate goal. Just wouldn't like the system to deliver acoustic experience of a vacuum cleaner

edit: Also I was thinking about the EK block for gpu... haven't seen a complete comparison yet...

AFAIK WCing the NB is overkill, but if you have a waterblock built onto your motherboard then might as well water cool it. But if you dont, just stick with just the CPU.

I am also putting my setup togerther right now and my NB water block the came stock with my motherboard is giving me problems(lots of leak) so I decided to remove it from my loop.

Also if I understood you right, since you think you would need to mod your case to have two rads then just stick with one. And if you decided to go for a single rad, you should get the Black Ice GTX480 if your case will allow you.
But if not get the GTX360 or Feser 360

And yes, it is a sin not to overclock that bad boy like crazy!!

Also, IHMO you should stick with the HeatKiller 3.0 CPU water block because I heard they perform better than the Fuzion V2 and the Apogee GTZ.

And if silence is not your ultimate goal, then you should go with the thick rads like the GTX series and put some Panaflos or Ultra kazes and even deltas--these are 38mm thick fans

I'm pretty sure about H/K for CPU, it's the gtx 295 that I consider putting an EK on. they're roughly the same price and to me the H/K looks better with steel front, just wondered if the EK was in any way superior to it.

The motherboard is an Asus Rampage II Extreme so getting a block for NB shouldn't be a problem.

I'm sure I can put a 360/480 AND a 240 at the bottom (not sure about 360 - would have to see how far the PSU goes and that one is yet to arrive) So 2 rads is not a problem it's the extra tubing/res/pump I'm not sure how fit in nicely. I'll definitely do two loops if I go SLI some day, just for now I think a single loop would look neater.

I am not really sure on how those tow GPU water block perform since I have not tried it myself. But I think since you are getting the heatkiller 3.0 for your CPU, you might as well get the Heatkiller GPU water block.

I couldnt visualize your case so I can comment about the placement for the other components of your WCing setup. But I am sure you will find a place for them in you case.

the heatkiller blocks are really true to their name.. including the GPU blocks.. id take them over anything EK barfs out any day.

I wish I would've gotten the Heatkiller 3.0.
