WD Black 00J7B1 vs 00L3B2?

The WD Black that came from Newegg today is a different model than the other two I bought in September. It also has firmware version 05.00K05 vs. the 01.03B01 that came with the other two.

Am I supposed to update the firmware of the other two drives?

Could this difference be why my HD Tune results are much less than what I expected?

And.... this new one is WAY LOUDER than the other two practically silent drives. I can hear it clicking away
.

If you're experiancing performance issues and you're also getting a lot of noise could be a faulty drive. You may need to RMA it, try a hard drive stress test and see what this comes back with.

Comps
Sorry to bump up an old thread but 00J7B1 is 3 platter drive, hence the slightly worse performance.
