Now I need to decide to let the RMA expire or send it in (since WD are known for sending back better drives than you return)

Your drive is in great shape. However, it is running slightly warm. Check and make sure you've got airflow over it and you don't have a dying intake fan on your case or something.
"Old age" and "Pre-fail" refer to the drive attribute. Old age means the attribute refers to something that will gradually degrade over time as the drive ages. Pre-fail means that when the attribute changes significantly, it's an indication of imminent failure.
