I don't really know if you can get it out safely. Even if you do, dust and all those stuff will get on it and then it's screwed. Or so I've learned.

you take out 8 screws, pull cover off, put new one on, place he 8 screws back into the drive and tighten them up. just make sure you and the drive are static free and you do it in a clean room with no breeze from a fan/heater or anything.

Cover mod for Raptors????

I'd DIE even thinking about bothering those drives. They're horrendously expensive!! Just these two 150MB Raptor X retail drives (as I don't trust Newegg shipping OEM drives with loose peanuts in a big box) cost well over $350.

Losing one $390 drive......oh the horror!
