A little while ago the fuse box on my house was tripped by my mums now dead iron.... i was watching a DVD wen it happened on my computer, so it shut down.

When i booted it back up i could not get any sound, get music to play (even from iTunes or a memory stick), or a DVD to play...(but the discs are recognised that they are there)

So i was wondering wat people think could be wrong?
could it be that my sound card has died?

Well, you could take out the sound card, turn on the on-board sound and see if it works. If so, then more than likely the sound card somehow managed to get damaged.

^^^But yeh, uninstalling and reinstalling would be the first thing to do.
