Well I'll start by saying that I've always owned an AMD since as long as I can remember, until 2 years ago when I bought an Intel C2D. I've felt a little dirty since, betraying AMD and all but its been a pretty good machine.
My first Proc I can remember was the K6-2 300 then a Duron, Athlon 1333 the Athlon XP then the skt 754 3000+, 939 X2 3800+ and then....the C2D E6400.
Well now its back to AMD, somehow the C2D didn't feel as snappy as the X2 3800+.

On Wednesday I ordered the Phenom II 940 along with the Asus M3A79-T Deluxe. I'll be using my Current memory and Vid. 4gigs of Firestix and an 8800GTS. I'm looking forward to it getting here. I'm hoping I can get an OC of around 3.7-3.8.
Just wondering if anyone has pointers or setting with the same board that worked for you.

If you can get a good cooler like the true (which I think will work with your board) or the s1283. you should be able to get to at least 3.5 easy.

update ur sig rig in the USER CP.

grats on the new AMD, i did the same switch to intel for this machine. i had an athlon XP 3000+ before this.
I'll be using the Scythe Ninja Rev.B I currently have. I'll have to see about the 4Ghz. I'd like to, but looking at the OC database herehttp://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/44...-database.html I'm thinking that might not happen. Time will tell I guess

My system specs in userCP has been updated. Thanks
you will love the 940!!!

Looks like you should know! You have the same mobo and proc. Care to share some settings? By the way if you do have a "Busa" like you name, damn! I want.

Well, everything is up and running. The only problem I ran into was that the Scythe ninja cooler I had didn't work on the Asus M3A79-T. For now my OC is at 3.5 and stable. Once I get the Xiggy S-1283 I'll start pushing for more. Love the system though. This thing rips through rar files like mad!
Lol, what are Buffalo Firestix.
