So a Raptor X died on me, still under warranty by a few weeks.
Set up the painless rma..

Heard all the stories about people getting upgraded to VRaptors when their Raptors died, or WD telling them they didn't have to return the dead drive

Not me!!!
LIARS:p

No biggie really, back up and running my array.
Got the replacement drive within a week of submitting the rma request.

I'd rate WD 9/10, perfect 10 had they picked up the shipping tab.

My WD Black 500GB was DOA and they wont replace it. They will only refund it the $50 I payed for it when it costs over $100 to get a new one.

I use about 500+ WD drives per year and I will admit their RMA process is pretty good. Quick turnaround but you do have to pay shipping to their repair center. And I have never had a returned refurbished drive fail before the warranty was up.
