Western Digital warranty....

Hey guys,

Is this normal?

I sent back a 160 GB IDE drive coz it started being screwy, however before i made the warranty, i was so mad that i threw this thing several times around the room onto hard surfaces.

I recieved a brand new one back today, I gave the reason as 'Would not detect anymore in BIOS' (which was true, lol..after I threw it!)

So my question is basically would this indicate a known bad lot of hdd's, as it did seem like they just threw mine in the bin and gave me a new one,

or does it cost more to actually spend the time testing it than to just send me back a new part..??

seems a little odd, but im not complaining, just curious! if anyone has any idea if this is normal procedure or not, let me know, if so then i could replace a whole bunch of parts that I thought I would have no chance of ever doing.....

Was this a recently purchased drive? Or had you had it for a while?

Sometimes, some companies will just RMA a new purchase (like within 30 days) just for customer service reasons.

Call Western Digital and give them the serial number of the drive.
They can tell you when the warranty expires or expired whichever applies.
