My 780 evga asx sc stock - boosting about 1097

My gtx 980 msi gaming stock - boosting about 1330-40

2fps upgrade ye!

Though ofcourse the 980s are amazing oc'ers, and my 780 only had 68% asic and could not oc any more than the stock without + voltage. While my 980 can easily oc to 1530 on stock volts with an asic of 78%.

980 +180 core + 220 mem boosting about 1530 stock voltage

Am I crazy for spending £440 on an incremental upgrade? The reason I upgraded though was that 780 was a lemon, it would crash and overheat and the fans are so damn loud.

Is that not supposed to be the difference between a 780 and a 970, not a 980. Some foul play at work here, surely not holding it back. Afterburner reporting full usage, with a 4670k @ 4.4ghz and a evga g2 supernova 850W.

If this is the case I will just send it back and side grade to a 970 if they are both basicaly side grades anyway and save £150 that can be put elsewhere in my system.
